Adventures in Undead-Controlling...

Okay, so that's a lousy title. But anyways.

Bear had a post a few days ago about his son's adventures while playing with the DK's Control Undead spell. He had so much fun, in fact, that I got rather inspired to try this out myself. Turns out Northrend has a lot of undead (go figure, right?), and... well, here are the results of my (and Barraccus'!) little trip.

He's even smiling for the camera!

"Muahahahahahahaha!"

He comes with a mount!

The chicken-face makes him look cuter, imo.

He um, has nice axes?

This is perhaps the fugliest thing I've ever seen.

My own personal banshee! Although I like Booggah's Banshee better...

This one didn't cost any runic power!

Ok, this guy? Level 80 elite. Bring it, suckers.

Does being undead make him a Varghoul? >_>

I though this guy would be more impressive than the slayer. He wasn't-- a wet blanket hits harder.

Would this be a new form of teabagging? >_>

"Ok, I like this guy."

"Guys, I have a confession to make. I... I have a Disturbed Soul...."

I want one of these for a perma-pet so bad. Whaddaya say, Blizzard?

Or one of these. I won't be picky. >_>

"I think I rescued this guy a little too late."

My own personal banner-bearer!

Comes with bombs.

"Hey Drakuru I'm stealing one of your servants, kay?"

I think-- I think-- that I found all the controllable undead in Northrend. I may make another trip sometime to make sure, though. XD

And final note? Thrym, sadly, is immune to control. But I can still dream!

Storming the Citadel

My guild on Gilneas went into ICC tonight to try some bosses. We've been doing rep runs for a couple weeks now, just killing trash, but this time we were looking specifically to kill bosses, just to see how far we'd get. Apparently the first boss, Morrowgar, is the hardest of the lot. We had tried to kill him before with no luck, but tonight we knew what to expect from him, and in short order...

We got him! Thus encouraged by our victory, we went on to the rest of the first wing. Lady Deathwhisper was a bit hectic, but we actually did pretty well with it, and she joined Morrowgar on the floor on our first try.

The gunship battle was a blast. Barraccus was on a cannon the whole fight, except when he had to go beat down on the Horde's mage. And I finally got to see the legendary druid-bear rocket pack...

I felt kinda bad laughing at poor Drac, but OhmygollySILLY!

Deathbringer Saurfang was after that. He gave us a hard time, but we got him closer to defeated on each attempt, until finally he was down as well!

At that point it was late and a few people had to go, so we stopped there. It was a fun run, and the PUG healers that came along all did a great job. Barraccus lost the rolls on Morrowgar's sword and a nice helm, but he got a dps chestplate from Saurfang, so I'm happy.

And now I need some sleep. Later!

I'm now afraid of Barraccus....

It's very late and I need sleep, but I wanted to brag a bit. Barraccus has been considerably easier to gear up than Arvoss, despite working on him less (the fact that he's actually raided might have helped with that), because I've always seen him as a dps'er. Yes, he has a tank off-spec and tanking gear, but those have been "just in case". He's actually only tanked twice now I think. So all his badges and stuff has gone to dps gear.

My guild on Gilneas decided to go play in ICC10 earlier, and we went in and killed a bunch of trash. It was fun, just learning the fights and getting some Ashen Verdict rep. Barraccus did his usual ~2.4-2.8k dps. Afterward we went and ran the ICC 5-man heroics, going thru just the first 2 at first. Scourgelord Tyrannus dropped his sword, which he's dropped every time Arvoss has been in there too. It's a tanking weapon, but Arvoss has been using it and doing well, so I nabbed it for Barraccus. We took a break after that so I runed the sword, then went and traded in some frost badges ("erk") so he could replace his last blue item, a ring. Then we went back in for Halls of Reflection.

Barraccus did 3.7k dps.

Three point seven thousand.

I find it hard to believe that those 2 upgrades could improve his dps by that much, but hey, I'm not gonna complain. I do realize that the fights were good for him, with lots of groups he could AOE. He had a few Howling Blast crits for 11k or over, which I'm sure helped out. Checking over his gear after the run, I also realized that he is now fully epicced, with 2 items at ilvl 200, one at 213, and the rest 219 and above. And he'll be replacing his t7 helm with t9 as soon as he gets the badges. Wow.

He got another new weapon too, after the Lich King chased us down the hallway he was nice enough to give up his mace. After I raise his weapon skill, I think I'm gonna throw him back into heroics so he can get his new helm. Poor Feathermoon may be getting a bit neglected for awhile. >.>

So that was it for now. I was going to get on Pitch for more questing, but obviously I got distracted. Planning on picking it back up tomorrow, if I feel all right after my first day back at work after vacation. Ugh.

A few notes

BRD is awesome. Shaurria got a level running thru it, then reached her next level turning quests in. By the time she was done, she was almost halfway to level #3.

Shaur is 54 1/2 now. Wheeee!

She got to see a happy drunken Aely. Oops, I mean a tipsy Aely *ahem*. It was nice because up til now she's only seen a sad dr- I mean tipsy Aely. Shaur was a bit... confused. It was amusing. :)

I didn't play her much this weekend 'cause I took Barraccus on a guild alt run thru Naxx. It was fun. And he finished his tank set!

He got to tank-kite the adds for Gluth. That's a lot more fun with a DK than with a hunter. >.>

I went ahead and bought his dual-spec for Gluth. He has a copy of what Arvoss' tank spec will be when he reaches 80.

Finished the night with Kel'Thuzad, and Barraccus got to offtank the adds.

After Naxx was done with, a couple guildies and I (still on Barraccus) went to start on Pilgrim's Bounty stuff. It was fun til I got too tired to keep track of what we were doing, then I gave up and logged.

I'm a little annoyed by the achievements. I have 3 toons that are pet-collectors, and only one of them has a decent cooking skill. So since the achievement requires you to actually cook all the food, I'm going to have to level up Pitch and Shaur's cooking. But that's something I'll worry about later. Although, thinking about Shaur and Pitch each with fat little turkeys following them is providing plenty of incentive.

And finally, the Onyxian Whelpling is cute, but it's one of the most psycho-looking whelplings I've ever seen.

Going to go crash now, til next time Happy Hunting!

Having Mixed Feelings About Raiding

I logged on Gilneas tonight for Onyxia after one of my buddies asked me to come heal. Hadn't been on Alanon for ages, and, well, I kinda miss my guildies over there. We didn't actually get her down, the dps kept dying and then her adds would get to be too much. Finally called it after a bit and went to Ulduar.

I was kinda happy about that, because I got to bring Barraccus, who I really want to raid on but haven't been able to yet. But I was also kind of peeved, because in order to bring him, I pretty much had to throw a fit to my guild, which I didn't want to do and hated it.

I've worked on him for a while, mostly for dps 'cause I'm having trouble scrounging up a tanking set for him. Been getting dps gear with the badges he's earned, so I don't humiliate myself or drag the guild down 'cause he's undergeared. After tanking some BC instances with Arvoss I'd really like to try tanking in raids and stuff, just to see how well I can do it. But you know what? Lately I've been feeling like he's stuck, that I'll never get to do anything with him because my guild always wants a healer. Sometimes feels like Alanon is my only toon on that server, because he's the only one that does anything. I like raiding, not just for loot but because I feel like I'm accomplishing something with my guild, but doing nothing but healing was starting to burn me out. Hence why I've been "hiding out" on Feathermoon lately.

And when I mentioned that I was trying to get him geared for tanking? My GM asked me if I had gotten all the tank badge gear. Had to hold my tongue on that one. :P

Now that Barraccus' dps gear is decent, I will be getting tanking gear, but he can also pick up pieces in raids. And frankly, farming heroics for badges gets dull after awhile.

Before anyone says anything, my guild is fairly small, but everyone has several level 80 alts. When people are farming heroics we often switch toons around to fill up a group, or if all else fails pick up a PUG or two. Not saying I want us to bring in outside people for our raids, but if we can shuffle toons around for heroics, why not for raids too? What I'm trying to say is, we don't need Alanon to come heal every single raid.

They'll be going back again tomorrow night, but I haven't decided yet if I'll go. This has just been building up for awhile, and I've been losing interest in raiding because of it. Alt-leveling is so much more relaxing right now, and I'm loving the RP on Feathermoon too. Guess I'll sleep on it tonight and decide tomorrow.

Now, Arvoss just hit 68 and I'm taking him to Northrend. This will be kinda OOC, cause he needs to tell Shaurria that he's going and all that, but I need to relax before bed. See ya! /signoff

Day 12 with no computer...

I think I'm slowly going nuts.

And my thumb drive died too. My dad has been in computers for as long as I can remember, and he's never heard of a thumb drive going bad. I'm starting to think I'm cursed.

I did get my RP night last week, and boy-oh-boy was it a busy one. Shaurria's friend Aleros was there and he started playing with both Shaur and my sister's druid Windstar. There were a LOT of druids there, a few of the others asked a few times if it was kitty night. >.>

There was a death knight there also, who decided that he HAD to talk with a paladin, the pally being a semi-regular that Shaur kind of knows. Now, this pally is socially-challenged enough to make Shaur seem normal by a long shot, and this death knight was not helping at all. It took Shaur, Windstar, another death knight, and another of the regulars, a warrior, to get him to take a hint and leave the pally alone.

The part that the dude needs for my computer was apparently bought from Ebay, which means who knows when he might get it. I'm still kinda hopeful that he may have gotten it and is working on it now, but I haven't heard anything yet.

I can't raid on my dad's PC, because I get an average of about 5fps anywhere. In Dalaran, of course, it's much, much worse, so I'm avoiding it whenever possible. So instead of instances/raids, I've just been leveling. I did get to use my sister's computer yesterday, which was much better. Barraccus hit 80 yesterday, I was going to do a post then but got a little distracted... by getting into 2 heroics and a 25-man Naxx run. Heroic Strat had nothing for him, tho he got a gloves upgrade from Chromie's quest there. Second heroic was Trial of the Champion(?), where he got 3 nice shiny purples. <3

After his level 80 training he was short only 40g for his epic flying, and after the instances he had it. His gryphon Berk has gotten some armor. Now he's broke, so I'm gonna be doing some farming on him and Alanon both for awhile.

Shaurria is up to level 32, and Pitch is 61. I haven't done much on Pitch for a while, but he'll probly get a turn soon. I'm still planning on getting Taurros to 80 next, but right now I'm feeling kinda uninspired to play my horde toons. I'm not entirely happy with the server they're on, even tho I love my guild, so it's hard to focus on them for long. The reasons behind me being unhappy are a topic for another post, tho, so I'll leave it at that.

My sister has been playing her pally Arien mostly, she is almost ready for Outland. We're kinda planing a little something between Arien and Alanon RP-wise, but haven't worked any details out yet. I'll probly be doing a story on them sometime soon.

Working on a longish one for Shaur now, since Arvoss' Darrowshire story is kind of stuck. I'll post it as soon as it's done, maybe later tonight. We'll see how it goes.

Can't think of anything else to add, and I'm itching to go play. Til next time Happy Hunting!
